North African Imperialism
Since the 18th century, imperialism has been a big part of African history. Libya,Tunisia,Algeria and Egypt created an empire called the Ottoman Empire. Morrocco was left and became an independant empire. The North African imperialism started after about fifty brutal years of fighting over Algeria with the French. Immigrants from France came over and started land and resources from the Algerians.
After the fifty or so years of fighting, French conquered Algeria. France never had a solid rule over Algeria and the immigrants were left to defend for Algeria. The natives finally took back their land and regained their country. Even though France came in and out quickly, the French altered the ways of schooling, medicine, farming, etc.
During the 19th century, women started uprising toward greater power than they were a few years ago. The men of North Africa did not like this and created a government that had women at the bottom of power and were restricted to their rights. This caused conflict and war.
